Repair or replace?
A nail or screw in the tread can often be repaired once the tyre is removed and inspected inside. Sidewall cuts, bulges, bead damage or a tyre that has run flat must be replaced.

Winter rules (Loi Montagne)
From 1 November to 31 March, in mountain municipalities designated by prefectoral order:
- Vehicles with a trailer or semi-trailer must carry chains for at least two drive wheels, even on winter tyres.
- Rigids and coaches without a trailer: 3PMSF-marked tyres or chains.
- Only the 3PMSF symbol counts as winter equipment; M+S alone is no longer enough.

From €350 excl. VAT for a light truck and from €450 for a tractor, trailer or coach (travel, removal, repair or fitting). A new 22.5-inch tyre usually costs €590–€990 excl. VAT depending on size and range. Nights, weekends and bank holidays: +50% to +100%.
Can a punctured truck tyre be repaired?
A puncture in the tread area can often be repaired after the tyre is removed and inspected inside. Sidewall cuts, run-flat damage or a damaged casing mean the tyre must be replaced. The technician tells you which applies before starting.
Can I keep driving on a flat twin tyre?
It is not recommended: the remaining tyre carries a load it is not designed for and can overheat and blow out. Stop as soon as you safely can and have the puncture dealt with before continuing.
What information do you need?
The full size from the sidewall (for example 315/80 R22.5 or 385/65 R22.5) with load and speed indexes, the tyre position (steer, drive, trailer), the wheel type, the number of tyres and the exact location, so the right tyre is on board from the first trip.
Do trucks need winter equipment in France?
In mountain municipalities designated by prefectoral order (Loi Montagne), from 1 November to 31 March, vehicles with a trailer or semi-trailer must carry snow chains for at least two drive wheels even with winter tyres; rigids and coaches without a trailer can use 3PMSF-marked tyres or chains.
